about

Sharing The Freedom was commissioned by the US Air Force Academy's Falconaires to be performed at the 2008 Monterey Jazz Festival. The audience of over 1500 was moved to tears hearing the piece. "I believe this performance shattered many stereotypes of not only military musicians but also shattered stereotypes of what a female Japanese jazz composer can do for international relations. " Deputy Commander of the US Air Force Academy Band Mr. Jason S. Plosch said. The impetus behind this piece of music called "Sharing The Freedom" was a musical representation of how Japan/United States relations have evolved over the years since the end of World War II. It begins with a hymn for all those who lost their lives in WW II and evolves into a joyous musical expression of World peace. Solos are by Steve Wilson and John Clayton.
