Matt Erion This moves in so many unexpected directions. But all of it incredibly musical. John Clayton plays some of the most beautiful arco work I've ever heard in Jazz. Favorite track: Fear of the Unknown.

about

It has been 3 years since Chie Imaizumi's Unfailing Kindness was released. A lot has happened in that time and much of it is expressed in her new music written for "A Time of New Beginnings". Every piece is a part of a life journey and is written with her heart and from her soul. It's about growing and learning from the experiences that we all have, both positive and negative, never letting the negative take us to darker places but gaining strength to better bear the brunt of the future storms. Joseph Campbell once said, "Find a place inside where there's joy, and the joy will burn out the pain."

The musicians in this all star band come from both coasts, New York and Los Angelels, as well as several Denver based musicians who played on her first CD. All are top soloists in their own right and all were hand-picked by Chie as her "A-list" band. Their talent and professionalism helped to make this session go smoothly and make the recording with minimal takes. Almost all the tunes were made in one or two takes, which is unusual with only one brief rehearsal.

There is so much to hear on this CD and it bears repeated listening. Even the music that expresses negative influences has joy contained within because ultimately life is too short to dwell on the negative. We live in a world that is constantly changing, some for the better and some for the worse. Music has always had an overall positive effect on people. Chie Imaizumi's music is all about this. My final words are again, "Many Happy Days Ahead"!
